If you’re reading this book it’s my guess you:

Take heart. If you are conditioned to being ashamed of your curves (as I was when I started this Diet), well, think again. When I developed the Goddess Diet in 2005 during a 21-day vacation to Tasmania, I happily and easily lost my self-loathing; gained more energy; and fell in self-love.

Nearly three years on, I’m still living the Goddess Diet with ease. In fact, even though I’m four months pregnant, I’m still lighter, healthier and happier than ever before.

In order to lose an ‘ugly duckling’ mindset and transform it into that of a ‘goddess’, I designed the Goddess Diet to revolve around three basic principles: 

  1. Body (real food and realistic fitness), 
  2. Mind (attitude) and 
  3. Spirit (en-lightening up). 

 

I invite you to use the space provided in this book to chronicle your own journey to holistic wellness to see how easy it really is.

For the record, the best thing I regained after completing my 21-day Diet was self-respect. Oh, and my life… So read on, dear goddess sister, and let’s get you reconnected to your inner goddess.

In The Beginning

This journey all started when I looked in the mirror in December 2005 to discover I had the body of a god.

Yeah, Buddha. With my 159cm frame carrying 70 kilograms I felt zapped, lazy and totally peeved off that my wardrobe no longer fit me. Perhaps worst of all, I had lost my libido at around the extra-six-kilograms mark. It went out the window along with my aspirations to get another season out of my bikini.

By the time I’d piled on 12 kilograms in as many months, my energy levels had plummeted, my eyes had resilient black bags, my hair was on a permanent bad-day, and I felt like I was living in a foggy tunnel. The day I passed out from sheer exhaustion was a neon-sign that it was time to reverse the trend. Although I hadn’t spilled a drop of my Cosmopolitan at the time, I wasn’t proud of who I was or how I’d let my curves become rolls.

And it wasn’t just my appearance that had me reaching for the diet books. It was my energy levels I was worried most about, along with my declining zest for life. I had lost my spark, my zing, my love for dancing along to 80s music.

That’s when I came up with the Goddess Diet. A complete program that addresses not just the physical body, but also the mind (your attitude) and the Spirit (your essence that makes it all possible.) Many diets promise a few kilos in a few weeks. They are usually fussy or extreme, and you’re expected to fit the preparation of special foods into your busy lifestyle.

The Goddess Diet is a little different. Your ‘weight-loss’ happens when you chuck out the extra baggage you’ve been carrying needlessly. And you will get to know your lighter-side when you purify your attitude to your self-image, your approach to life, and the decisions you make every day to honour your goddess within.

This ‘diet’ (for want of a better four-letter word, but I’ll deal with that soon) is an holistic approach to wellbeing using a variety of tools that are already at your fingertips. It’s just a matter of using them. Perhaps what makes my plan so special is that I recommend you go on vacation (or at least take a 21-day Time Out from your routine) in order to do it.

I wish to stress that the intention of the Goddess Diet is not to make you a Size Zero, celebrity rich or peachy-popular. The goal of this Diet is to be able to look into a mirror after 21 days and be absolutely and totally in love with the woman you see in the reflection.

This means being comfortable in your skin (regardless of the size on the tag of your jeans), empowered in your choices, super cool about your attitude to life, and feeling invincible as you power through every day.
